Important Ideas from the book ESL/EFL TEACHING by Freeman & Freeman.

Chapter 2: Teaching Language Through Content

This chapter help me to realise that the most important way to teach a language and to learn a language is through content. Traditional teaching has been always focused on grammar and rules. However, this new way of teaching can help students to feel involved with the new languge that they are learning. It is easier to learn a language one you have found that it is useful. So if you teach English by using another subject students are going to acquire the language fast. For example, You can teach Science and English in the same class, doing a project in which students would apply their knowledge learned in both subjects. For instance, you can make a report about Global Warming.

Chapter 6: Learning Takes Place in Social Interaction

Social Interaction is totally important for human beings. As teachers we should include it in our classes. It is better to learn with others than without them. Speaking activities are the main example, you cannot learn how to speak a new language if you don't talk. Moreover, it is more motivating to learn how to speak English by communicating with other people and to share opinions, experiences and points of view.

Chapter 10: Faith in the Learner Expands Student Potential

From my point of view, it is the most important chapter in the book because if you don't trust in your students' potential it is better not to teach. A motivated teacher completely believes that he or she is teaching a language because their students are going to learn but if you don't have hope you will transmit the same feeling to your students, make them part of the unmotivated group that never learns.
